Los Balcones
Los Balcones is a thriving residential urbanisation and community situated just 3 km south of the large town of Torrevieja next to the large Torrevieja lakes and protected Natural Parks.
Los Balcones has many villas, townhouses and apartments purchased by people from all over Europe and who live there on a permanent or holiday home basis, these people are classed as expatriates or ex-pats. Los Balcones is a popular tourist destination because of the beautiful beaches, shopping facilities, daily street markets and top quality golf courses which are nearby.
There are lots of activities, points of interest, shopping, excursions and activities that are available for those staying or living in Los Balcones, including popular golf courses, beaches and shopping centres including the Filton Centre which boasts shops, cash machine, lawyers, supermarket, second hand furniture, hairdresser, DIY shop, dentist, friendly bars and restaurants and nearby is the Torrevieja hospital, petrol station and free open air sports and recreational facilities. The 3 storey Habaneras shopping centre and the new La Zenia Boulevard are only a few minutes from here and have many high street shops available.
Nearby Torrevieja includes a marina, market and promenade extremely popular with Spanish for their traditional evening strolls. You will find plenty of restaurants, tapas bars and shops. You can get to Torrevieja from Los Balcones by the local bus or taxi service, taking just 10 minutes.
Punta Prima is a few minutes drive away and around a 20 minute walk, it is the closest stretch of beach and has a large commercial centre with bars, restaurants, grocery shops and an electrical store. If you head further south to Playa Flamenca you will find yet another beautiful beach and a commercial centre with a supermarket, more bars and restaurants and there is also a very popular go-kart track and paint ball arena.
Nearby Villamartin is a five minute drive away and worth a visit as it hosts the Villamartin plaza. This is a lively square full of bars, late night bars and restaurants, the square is surrounded by banks and shops and just behind the square is the villamartin golf course. The summertime brings the crowds to the square creating a buzzing atmosphere which is well worth an evening out.
Los Balcones is continuing to grow with lots of mostly European nationalities purchasing all types of properties at great value for money prices either as second homes in the sun or for a permanent relaxed lifestyle. The type of accommodation available are apartments, town houses and villas which come in all shapes and sizes.
There are street markets every day of the week, held in nearby villages or every Friday in Torrevieja. You can purchase anything from fruit, vegetables, jewellery, footwear, leather goods and clothing. There's an indoor market in the town centre open daily for seafood, vegetables and meat. Fresh sea food can also be purchased daily in the port of Torrevieja.
There are plenty of good restaurants and bars in Los Balcones itself including Bar Manuel, Casa PomPom (Belgium), traditional Spanish food at The Restaurante Filton, Chinese, Italian or The Balcon Tapas Bar, Alingui (Daily menu just 7.95€). Not far away are the beach resorts, for example Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia and of course Torrevieja. Understandably with Torrevieja as it is a working fishing port, sea food dishes are the most popular choice. Most restaurants are Spanish but you will find all kinds of eating-out options for example British, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Dutch and a lot of Chinese.
